Background info

My work is designed to be appreciated by anyone who enjoys colour and abstraction regardless of the relationship the viewer may or may not have with the building, street or scene. My work is illustrative and mixed media based. Manchester scenes feature heavily in my work as I find it to be a vibrant city, full of life and opportunity. By using colour and line I try to capture and enhance mood to what maybe a dreary, dismal building or rainy day. My work is about harmonization between old and new architecture. My appreciation for historical buildings and passion for their value and importance in urban environments is demonstrated in my work. I focus on detail to emphasize key features on buildings and ornamental qualities. People and their environments are a common theme throughout my work. I am interested in capturing the interaction and activities which occur in urban scenes and everyday life. I use collage, inks and newspapers in addition to paint to create my finished pieces. By using recent newsprint it cements a greater meaning to my work and allows it to be contemporary and current.

Every original painting is signed and framed in a bespoke, matt white, sleek frame with extra chunky mount. This simple yet effective frame allows the artwork to do the talking! It works well with most interiors and can look striking hung over a fireplace or positioned on a featured wall. Wherever you decide to exhibit the artwork I hope that you will enjoy it as much as i have done creating it.
